We recently received this email invitation to an event which would be great to share with our readers:

The event is on target, hosted by a reputable company and free. We like it. You might too. The only problem is they didn’t specify the date. The only information we have about when the event is taking place is the line we’ve highlighted, “Thursday at 12pm Eastern.” Which Thursday?
We use multiple mailboxes to sort our important email from “that’s nice if we have time to get to it” email. Maybe you do too. There’s a good chance that your customers do. The point is that a lot of people might not see this email until days (or weeks) after it went out, in which case this email adds no value at all.
The same thing could easily happen to you (or us)…it’s a simple human mistake to miss details sometimes. That’s why we blanked out the name of the company. But we hope this example (from a marketing company of all places) will help illustrate how important the basics are. Now go check your copy ok? And make sure you’ve got the right date(s) in there.
PS: As we cover in our Conducting Teleclasses and Web Conferencing Basics sessions, this company could let you know that the session will be recorded and available for replay later in case you miss it. That way you’d still be inspired to register even if you know you can’t catch it live. Listen to those podcasts here, then try this for your own sessions and watch how much interest grows.
